Upon our 20 week sonogram with our second son Gionni the sono tech noticed an abnormality with his heart. 17 weeks and countless appointments later we gave birth to our son Gionni. After 24 hours of monitoring in the NICU at Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center they discovered a list of congenital heart defects. Gionni had multiple VSDs, Coarctation of the Aorta, an interrupted IVC and an abnormal Venus structure. One week after Birth he had surgery to repair the coarctation and to reroute the IVC. Thanks to the amazing medical staff at Cohen’s Gionni’s surgery was a success. At his last cardiology appointment we were given glowing remarks and were told that soon he would only need annual appointments.
